Identifiers

The University makes use of a number of identifiers. These are tokens, used in various contexts, that in some way identify an object. In many cases, the object is a person, but may be other things. An object may have a number of identifiers, and the identifiers may have a number of properties. This document attempts to list known identifiers, provide information about them and their use, and link to further information.

The rest of this document is incomplete, but for the meantime it is expected to provide information on the following identifiers:

usernumber
personid
registration number
library number

Each attribute is expected to be described in the following terms:

opacity
uniqueness (scoped in time)
longevity
permanence
method of allocation
custodian
owning entity
uses
